EVM Networks

EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) is a shared technical standard that several independent blockchains are built on. Keeper supports four EVM networks: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and BNB Smart Chain (BSC).

Despite the shared standard, these are separate networks — transfers between them don't go through directly; you need to swap instead.

Network differences

  • Ethereum — the first and primary EVM network, the most well-known and time-tested, but with higher fees
  • Arbitrum — a Layer 2 network built on top of Ethereum, with lower fees and higher speed
  • Base — also a Layer 2 network, built by Coinbase, similar to Arbitrum in speed and fees
  • BNB Smart Chain — an independent network with low fees and its own native coin, BNB

Address format

All four networks use the same address format, starting with "0x." In Keeper, you'll have the same address across all four networks.

Supported tokens and standards

Keeper supports all tokens on any standard EVM network.

Network fee (gas)

The fee on EVM networks is called a gas fee. It's calculated based on how complex the operation is and how busy the network is — the more users sending transactions at once, the higher the fee.

Fees on Layer 2 networks (Arbitrum, Base) are usually lower than on Ethereum — that's one of the reasons they exist. BNB Smart Chain has low fees regardless of how busy it is. The final fee amount is always shown before you confirm a transaction.
